Today I finally completely got rid of my Facebook account.

I had ‘disabled’ my account previously and was annoyed that I was unable to actually delete it. After a bit of searching and an email to Facebook I found that there was indeed a way. I went into my account, manually deleted every post I had made, every post on my wall, remove every group I was a member of and every picture I had uploaded. Then I emailed facebook telling them I had done as requested and my account was ready to be deleted, they complied a few hours later.

Shouldn’t it be as easy to remove our presence from social networking sites as it is to add ourselves to them? With so many dangers being tide to social networking such a feature should be a must surely?
